Record: 3-3
Here are my thoughts on week one.
Big Bart
Monday should have been a national holiday! Alas I had to work on opening day and the Mountain Time Zone didn't help me get home in time for the first pitch. When I did settle in at FFH around the fourth inning I was shocked to see that Bartolo Colon seemed to have lost weight during the off season. I was relieved to discover that in fact he was still Big Bart and that his haircut made his face seem somehow less round. God forbid he ever goes on the Atkins diet. On a lighter note, did you see the man deal this week? On opening day he matched Max Scherzer pitch for pitch. On Sunday his fine effort averted an embarrassing sweep in Atlanta. But wait there's more...
Ladies and Gentlemen, it took him ten years but Big Bart has an RBI. And he looks so good doing it!
Matthew Edward Harvey
Wow is it good to have this guy back. Harvey made the Nats look like little kids in his first start since coming back from Tommy John surgery. Four hits, one walk and nine punch outs, yes please! Oh yeah Bryce Harper, go to your room.
Speaking of Pharmacies
Jenrry, Jenrry, Jenrry, your killing us! Getting busted for 'roids is not what we needed out of you this year. Not with the bullpen banged up already. Mr. Wright lit you up with his comments and I concur with The Captain. Stay off the horse pills!
Grandy Man
I love the energy and joy with which Curtis Granderson plays the game, but I hate that the dude can't hit himself out of Mendoza purgatory. Yes he got robbed of an RBI with the bases loaded in DC when the ump thought he should be part of the game story. But .063, come on man.
Gary
It's been too long since the dulcid tones of Gary Cohen were the sound track each evening in my living room. Ah the coming of Spring: warm weather, green grass, birds singing, Easter egg hunts and Gary yelling "its outta here!"
Predictions
-Jacob deGroom will become the closest thing to RA Dickey mania Mets have had in a while.
-Gee will get traded because some team out there will get desperate and we have Matz and Thor waiting.
-Relax, Wilmer will be fine.
-Record Next Week: 5-2
Lets Go Mets!
